Dr. Sajal Dey holds a PhD in Russian from Bhasha Bhavana, Visva-Bharati, Santiniketan. He teaches Russian language and literature at the English and Foreign Languages University (EFLU), Regional Campus Shillong, Meghalaya, India, where he also serves as the Head In-charge of the Department of Russian Studies.

A member of various linguistic and academic societies in India and abroad, Dr. Dey’s research interests include Russian Studies, Esperanto Studies, Foreign Language Teaching (FLT), Tagore Studies, Sociolinguistics, and Language Rights.

Dr. Dey is an accomplished translator and poet, proficient in Hindi, Assamese, English, Russian, and Esperanto. He has published four collections of poems in Bangla and has contributed extensively to literary translation. His latest book, Prithibir Buke Dinguli (2022), is a Bangla translation of Jaroi Sur Tero, the first Esperanto autobiography written by an Indian, Lakshmishwar Sinha. He has also translated the Sahitya Akademi award-winning Assamese novel Abhijatri (2007) into Bangla. His poetry has been widely published in various anthologies and collections.
