Write for U-Talk
U-Talk is a quarterly, multidisciplinary magazine by the Umran Academic Research Association. We are looking for writing and art that thinks critically, engages with the world, and speaks in your own voice. There is no theme. Bring the idea, the question or the issue you care about.
This is your talk
The name says it: U-Talk is a space for you to talk. We want pieces where you bring an idea, an opinion or an engagement of your own. Tell readers what is happening, why it matters, and what you think about it.
You might write about a debate in your field, something unfolding in your city, or what is happening in India and around the world today. You might respond to something U-Talk has already published, or propose a new way of looking at an old question. What matters is that the thinking is yours.
Inform
Tell readers what is happening, here or elsewhere, and why it deserves attention.
Engage
Respond to a debate, a book, an event, or a piece published in U-Talk.
Argue
Take a position. Make a case with clear reasoning and evidence.
Suggest
Propose ideas, solutions or questions others should be thinking about.

- Your work must be original and unpublished, and written by you.
- AI-generated writing is not accepted. Spelling and grammar tools are fine; the ideas, arguments and words must be your own.
- Send text as a Word file (.docx). Add a title and, where you use sources, references in any consistent style.
- Include a short bio (about 50 words) and, if you like, a photo of yourself.
- Images must be high-resolution JPEG or PNG. Send only images you took or made, or have permission to use, and credit them.
- Our editors may suggest edits for clarity and length. We will share the final version with you before publication.

The editorial team reads every submission.
Edit
If selected, we work with you on any revisions.
Publish
Your piece appears in U-Talk and on uara.in.
U-Talk is published four times a year. There is no single deadline. Early submissions are considered for the current issue. If an issue has already been finalised, your work is automatically considered for the next one.
Good to know
Who can submit?
Anyone: students, researchers, teachers, writers and artists, from India and abroad. You do not need an academic affiliation.
Is there a fee?
No. There is no fee to submit or to be published.
Do I get a certificate?
A Certificate of Publication can be issued for selected academic articles on request.
I want to publish a peer-reviewed research paper.
Research papers go to our peer-reviewed U-Talk Journal, which has its own submission portal.
