U-Talk Magazine (ISSN 3049-4133, Online), the quarterly multidisciplinary magazine of the Umran Academic Research Association (UARA), is looking for two Communications & Outreach Interns for a six-month internship. If you enjoy connecting with people, spreading good ideas and building communities around writing, this role is for you.

Our interns help U-Talk reach new writers, artists and readers across colleges and universities. You will work closely with the editorial team and see two issues of the magazine come together, from the call for submissions to publication.

At a glance

• Positions: 2 Communications & Outreach Interns
• Duration: 6 months (two issues of U-Talk), 1 December 2026 – 31 May 2027, extendable by mutual agreement
• Time: about 2 hours a week, flexible (for example, on weekends)
• Mode: remote

The two roles

1. Contributor Outreach

• Share U-Talk’s call for submissions with colleges, departments, teachers, student societies and writing groups.
• Reach out to potential contributors by email and WhatsApp using our message templates.
• Track who has been contacted and remind people about deadlines.
• Help build a network of campus contacts and ambassadors.

2. Community & Engagement

• Help run the U-Talk WhatsApp community: share new issues, articles and calls, and keep conversations active.
• Follow up with contributors for revisions, photographs and bios so that every issue is ready on time.
• Share and engage with U-Talk content on social media and in reading groups.
• Collect reader feedback and ideas for future issues.

Who should apply

• UG and PG students, PhD scholars and recent graduates from any discipline.
• Clear and polite communicators in English; Hindi, Urdu or another Indian language is a plus.
• Comfortable with WhatsApp, email and social media, and with following up regularly.
• Interested in writing, ideas, culture and community.
• Reliable: able to give about 2 hours a week for six months.

• Real experience in outreach, community building and magazine publishing, with guidance from the editorial team.
